Official: Russia can raise grain consumption by 30 mln tns by ‘35

MOSCOW, Mar 14 (PRIME) -- Russia can increase grain consumption by 28–30 million tonnes by 2035 by raising bioethanol and feed production, and deep processing, Yevgeny Akhpashev, director of the food and processing industry department of the Agriculture Ministry, said on Wednesday.

“If we want to raise the volume by processing grain, it will be roughly 3 million tonnes of deep processing, 15 million tonnes of bioethanol. We have 18 million tonnes, plus 9–10 million tonnes of growth by feed production rise,” Akhpashev said.

The deep grain processing requires state support and the current cut-rate investment lending is not enough, he said.
